Privacy Policy
How Newsline Press processes personal data under the Swiss FADP and the EU GDPR.
Controller
The controller for data processing on this website is [Operator name — to be configured by the publisher], [Registered address — to be configured] ([Contact email — to be configured]). This policy is written with reference to the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP/revDSG) and, where it applies, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
Data we process
Account data: email address, display name and password hash when you register; your saved articles and preferences (topics, regions, companies, alert settings).
Newsletter data: email address, selected newsletters, and a record of your consent (time and wording).
Contact and press-release submissions: the details you enter, any files you upload, and the submission time.
Technical data: our hosting provider processes IP addresses and request logs to deliver the site securely. We count article views as a simple anonymous counter without storing who viewed what.
Purposes and legal bases
We process data to provide accounts and personalisation (contract), send newsletters you request (consent), answer enquiries and review submissions (legitimate interest / pre-contractual steps), and keep the service secure (legitimate interest). Under the FADP processing is carried out in accordance with the principles of lawfulness, good faith and proportionality.
Recipients and processors
We use a managed cloud backend for hosting, database and authentication, and an AI service to assist in drafting editorial content (no reader personal data is sent to it). Data may be processed outside Switzerland and the EEA; where this occurs we rely on adequacy decisions or standard contractual clauses.
Images from publishers
Article thumbnails are loaded directly from the original publishers' servers, which therefore receive your IP address when you view them.
Retention
Account data is kept until you delete your account (available in My Newsline Press). Newsletter records are kept until you unsubscribe, plus proof of consent where legally required. Enquiries are deleted when no longer needed, normally within 24 months.
Your rights
You may request access, rectification, deletion, restriction, data portability, and object to processing, and withdraw consent at any time. Contact [Contact email — to be configured]. You may lodge a complaint with the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC) or your EU/EEA supervisory authority.
