Editorial Policy
Independence, sourcing, AI-assisted processes and human oversight at Newsline Press.
Independence
Newsline Press decides what to publish on news value alone. Advertisers, sponsors and press-release issuers have no influence over editorial coverage.
What you are reading
Aggregated news: most news items are short summaries of reports from named third-party publishers, imported automatically from their public RSS feeds. We show the headline, the publisher's own excerpt and a link to the full original report. We never present these as our own or exclusive reporting.
Analysis and Expert Perspectives: contextual and opinion writing, clearly labelled as such and kept separate from news.
Press releases: announcements written by the issuing organisation, always labelled 'Press Release' and never presented as independent reporting.
Sources and verification
We import only from established publishers and official institutions whose public feeds permit headline-and-excerpt display with attribution. Each source is reviewed before activation and listed on our Sources page. Imports are checked for recency and duplicates. Stories touching elections, criminal allegations, public health and similar sensitive subjects are flagged; from sources outside our highest-reliability tier they are held for human review rather than published automatically.
AI-assisted processes
We use automated systems to categorise stories, detect duplicates and regions, and to help draft analysis and perspective articles from already-published, attributed reports.
AI drafts may only use facts contained in the cited source reports; they may not invent quotes, interviews, figures, credentials or experiences, and they list their sources.
AI editorial personas
Our Expert Perspectives contributors — Alexander Reed, Victoria Hayes, Daniel Mercer, Sophia Bennett, James Whitmore, Eleanor Brooks, Marcus Chen and Olivia Grant — are fictional AI editorial personas, not real people or employed journalists. Their portraits are illustrations. Each persona has a defined specialty and voice so readers can follow a consistent perspective.
Every persona article carries an article-level disclosure that it was produced with AI assistance.
Human oversight
No AI-drafted article is published automatically. Every draft enters a review queue and is published only when an editor or administrator approves it. The article is marked 'reviewed by an editor' only when that approval has been recorded; an automated check is never treated as human review.
Editorial responsibility: [Responsible editor — to be configured].
Imagery
We prefer images supplied by the source publisher under its feed terms and credit them. We limit reuse of any image to at most two articles. We do not use AI-generated images that could be mistaken for real news photography; illustrations are labelled.
