A Ridgeland citizen may face felony charges for killing two cats.
The Ridgeland police department arrested Samuel Allen Hardee, Jr. (54), on Thursday, January 20th, 2022 at his home on Boardwalk Boulevard.
Officers received a tip about a dead cat that had been left on an outside doorstep.
It was later identified the cat had been shot with a pellet rifle.
It was discovered after additional investigating, a second dead cat was found that had also been shot with a similar weapon.
Hardee was arrested and charged with two counts of felonious injury to or killing of an animal.
Each charge of animal abuse carries up to 3 years in prison and fines as high as $5,000.
Hardee is on a $20,000 bond at the Madison County Detention Center. The Mississippi Department of Corrections also has a hold in place for Hardee due to probation violation reasons.
